(UPSC) conducts the Special Class Train Apprentices’ Examination, 2013 to select candidates for the Mechanised Department of Indian Railways. Eligible candidates have to apply online from 13/10/2012 to 12/11/2012. On completion on the probation in SCRA, one is posted as an officer inside the junior scale. Promotion on the senior scale takes place after about two years of service in operating post. After six to seven years of service, the officer is promoted on the Junior Administrative Grade, that's two levels. About SCRA: Special Class Railway Apprentices' (SCRA) refers to a handful of candidates that are selected through the Union Public Service Percentage India, after a demanding selection process, to the undergraduate plan in Mechanical Engineering in the Indian Railways Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Jamalpur. This programme was started in 1927 and is one of the oldest in India. As soon as the completion of their training, they are absorbed into the highest level leadership program inside the Railway organization (also referred to as Group A Officers).
